‘Delicious Mischief’ host to teach at Central Market on Friday

deliciousmischiefcookbookFans of John DeMers’ radio show, “Delicious Mischief,” will be delighted to find out that the longtime Texas food writer has released a companion cookbook filled with many tales from his long career and extensive travels.

The Delicious Mischief Cookbook: 100 Favorite Recipes from 25 Years of Eating and Drinking on the Radio” (Bright Sky Press, $29.95) has recipes from far beyond DeMers’ stomping grounds of New Orleans, Houston and West Texas, but the real delight is reading DeMers’ stories of cooking with famed chefs and making, of all the things one might make on a hike or rafting trip, salad dressing at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

You can catch DeMers’ show at 10 a.m. on Saturdays on AM 1370, and he’ll be in Austin this week for a cooking class at Central Market on Friday (that’s tonight) at 6:30 p.m.

The class costs $50, and the delightfully entertaining DeMers will be teaching how to make Jalapeño-Red Pepper Hummus,Brisket-Stuffed 1015 Onions, Halibut Bruschetta Stacks, and Margarita Cake.
