No matter how you slice it, Austin’s pizza scene has grown tremendously in the past decade, from food trailers serving artisan pies to fine dining restaurants opening more casual pizzerias.
When we put out a call on the Austin360Eats Facebook page last week — inspired by Matthew Odam’s cover story on his favorite pizzas in Austin in today’s paper — to find out your top picks, you all responded by the dozen, with plugs for everything from Backspace, the downtown pizza shop from Parkside, to 40 North, one of the newer pizzerias-on-wheels. House Pizzeria, Bufalina and Via 313 have many fervent fans, but some of you wanted to make sure establishments like Home Slice, Saccone’s or Frank and Angie’s didn’t go without some love.
Some of you shared photos to go with those recommendations, including @cegmc, who posted a slice of salad-topped pizza from Pieous out on U.S. 290 headed to Dripping Springs. Another Instagrammer, @atxeats, also likes greenery on her pie, which makes the mushroom pizza with umami sauce, ricotta and kale at St. Philip one of her favorites.
As always, thank you for sharing your thoughts on what you like to eat and drink in Austin!
