Every Friday for about a year and a half, we’ve been running reader Instagram photos in print.
In just the past month or so, we’ve increased that number from two a week to five, in part because there are just so many good photos coming in that we wanted to make room for more of them.
I’ve slacked off on blogging each week’s featured #Austin360Eats pics, but I’m going to try to start posting them online every Monday, even though the print edition won’t run until the end of the week.
I really enjoy getting to “meet” new Austin food fans through this project, and this week, here are five new-to-met Instagrammers whose work we’ll be featuring in the paper later this week. Want your photos to be considered for print? Just add #Austin360Eats to your photos on Instagram, and I’ll pull them into a Storify gallery.
and to think I turned away all those brussels sprouts as a kid…. brussels sprouts with smoked bacon, mint, and feta __________________________________ next week I'm starting featured fridays! So tag/comment @julietateromeo or use #julietateromeo on any of your austin food or adventures and I'll repost you!
Brussels sprouts are winning over lots of food lovers who didn’t used to eat them when they were younger. That includes @julietateromeo, who enjoyed this sprouts dish topped with smoked bacon, mint and feta from Second Bar & Kitchen, 200 Congress Ave.
On a hot summer day, Jessie Williams, who blogs at dogsfoodandbooze.com and Instagrams as @jessielwilliams, knows exactly where to find her favorite cobb salad: Cenote, the coffee shop at 1010 E. Cesar Chavez St. that also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Kelly Keelan, a runner with a proud sweet tooth who posts to Instagram as @toneitupatx, splurged on a seafood tower from Liberty Kitchen. The restaurant at 507 Pressler St. opened in May and is the first Central Texas location of the Houston-based seafood and oyster bar.
Happy Hour starters! yum! We had edamame with sea salt, Moroccan lamb kabobs (no bread for #glutenfree), street tacos with chicken (pulled pork is cooked in Shiner beer so not GF) and the Hubs had pork belly bao buns (not GF). So good! #nomnom #sundayfunday #foodie #foodpic #foodporn #atxeats #austin360eats #austin #outinaustin #eatwell
District Kitchen & Cocktails, 5900 W. Slaughter Lane, doesn’t just host happy hour during the week. Austin blogger Deana Evans (@deana_evans, theweeklymenubook.com) enjoyed the Sunday happy hour prices on appetizers, including edamame with sea salt, Moroccan lamb kabobs, street tacos with chicken and pork belly bao buns.
Few bars serve a Bloody Mary like Casino el Camino, 517 E. Sixth St., which @eats_atx enjoyed last weekend. Hers included a mini bagel, a taquito, a pickle and a slice of bacon.
