Hungry for crickets? 8th annual Bug Eating Festival returns this weekend

bugeatingfestivalEntomophagy — insect eating — has been one of the big food trends of the past few years, but it’s old hat for¬†Marjory Wildcraft and Allen (Alio) Davisson, coordinators of Austin’s Bug Eating Festival.

They’ve been eating bugs for many years, and eight years ago, they launched the Bug Eating Festival to bring together avid bug cooks, curious eaters and everyone in between.

The event returns this weekend, but this time, they are hosting it from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at In.gredients, 2610 Manor Road.

The event is free to attend and will feature samples of various insects prepared in various ways, including using a powder made from ground crickets. (You can leave a donation at the door for Little Herds, a local entomophagy nonprofit that is helping host the event.)
